Ruth 1:6

Then she arose with her daughters-in-law to return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the fields of Moab this the LORD had visited His people and given them food.

Heavenly Father, when famine of sorts come into our lives how real the scramble can be to find love, provisions and support. We can travel great distances to find relief, but all the while You are there as our ever-present help in times of need. How important and crucial it is for us to have attentive ears to hear Your instruction. I pray Lord we don't allow bitterness and despair over our losses and grief keep us from humbling ourselves in returning to Your loving care. Trials are the launch pad that can begin an amazing new journey with You the lover of our souls. Return is mentioned eight times in this chapter, and You have said Return to Me the Lord Your God for You are gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, thank You for Your promises. How we can rejoice that You have blotted out our transgressions like a cloud and our sins like a mist, You have redeemed us. I pray for us Lord that we would have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths, but rather train ourselves for godliness, for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds the promise for this present life and for the life to come. So, when famine comes may we remember to look to You with gratitude and expectations as You are faithful and trustworthy. Naomi and Ruth journeyed back to Bethlehem "The house of Bread" as we recall Jesus You are the bread of life, and we ask You to bless us with our portion for today to nourish and sustain our souls. May You receive all the honor due Your great name, Amen.
