1 Peter 1:13

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father,
I pray we do not confuse holiness with morality. Understanding that morality is outward conformance to a set of standards, but holiness is the inward transformation, the cleanliness of our soul's as we submit to live in obedience to Your will. By the power of Your Holy Spirit we can exercise self-control, a wonderful fruit of Your Spirit. Disciplining our minds to be sober in our thoughts and actions. I pray we would not be inebriated with the cares of this life that choke out Your word, and make it unfruitful. May we be self-denying and on guard to temptation, foolish and hurtful lusts and let us not be intoxicated by false doctrine that lulls us to sleep, rendering us incapable of serving You and Your church. I pray Lord that we would abstain from being enthralled by fables that are contrary to Your words of truth. Father thank You for the revelation of Your Son Jesus Christ, who through His sacrifice gave an electing grace, redeeming grace and justifying grace, adopting grace, so none of us can boast in the work that we have done. Open the eyes of those who still live groping in the darkness, and cleanse the eyes that are haughty and think more of themselves than they ought. Father thank You that we may rest fully upon Your grace, unearned, unmerited but lovingly bestowed upon us. Lord may I live a life pleasing and acceptable in Your sight. Adhering to Your teachings, honoring You not only with my lips but my whole heart as well. In Jesus name, Amen.
